The choice of Champion! (Guest blog by Johanna Nielsen)

In church, on a Sunday I see so many champions at work. Most of them I know pretty well. I know their history, what they’ve gone through in life and I also know a lot of their present troubles that they’re dealing with. Someone just lost their job, someone has had a rough week, someone is having trouble in their relationship. Still, Sunday after Sunday, they show up. They put out chairs, feed the volunteers, set up the foyer, teach the kids about God, play the guitar, sell books, lead worship, set up the stage, make sure the venue is secure… I could go on for ever because I know almost every detail that is required on order for us in Hillsong Church Stockholm to pull of an amazing Sunday. To me they are all champions. They go beyond their self to make a difference in someone else life. And that’s what we do, together we are all making a difference.

The choice to be a champion empowers a person with the will to win…

I love you and you all inspire me!

XOXO

Appointment with God!

Hi Church.

As many of you know I am in Sydney, Australia for Hillsong Conference 09. I am also speaking in some great churches at the Gold Coast and in Melbourne.

I have been here for the last 6 or 7 years for the conference. And I have always left so blessed. To be honest with you the year since last conference has been a great year. Our church has more than doubled. 212 people has responded to an invitation to start a new life in Christ in our services just this year. But as often with all the good thing that happens around us, there’s always many challenges. For me personally, having a really tough experience with our youngest daughters heart surgery, all the different decisions I have had to make, growing as a leader with the growth in church. The joy of all the new people coming and the heart break of some people leaving has really put me in a place where I arrived in Australia a few days ago happy, but really exhausted.

On the plane I felt God spoke to be and said that he had made an appointment with me over the next days. Straight away I felt this deep hunger for Him and His presence. As I arrived, Eric Liljero sent me a demo of a new song he has written. It was like this song was written just for me. I have played it close to a hundred times and God has really ministered to me, filled me up and I am so full of new vision and faith for the second half of this year.

I pray we always remember to work and live in the power from the one who has called us. Last night at the opening meeting Pastor Craig Groeschel spoke an awesome word that really blessed me. God is so awesome and has a way of supplying everything we need if we just keep pressing on in every season and never lose heart.

Well, this was just a some personal lines from me. I can’t wait to be back home in Hillsong Stockholm. I have great expectations on what God is going to do in the fall. Church, I pray we take this summer to seek him and get ready for the best season in our church so far. God has so much more in store for all of us and for every person who will meet him for the first time this fall.

I love you church, pray for me and my family as we pray for you. At the end, Lina baby, thank you for walking together with me. You are my hero I miss you so much!

With Love!

Andreas

Hello Beautiful people!

Summer time is here in Sweden, don’t think that anyone has missed that!:)
And vacation is coming up soon for many of us.

Just want to encourage you to use your vacation the best way! Of course you
should rest, sleep, relax, have ice cream, lay in the sun and do whatever
you feel like! Have vacation!

But don’t take vacation from God, or Church, or your connect group (your
family).

Summer is the perfect time to listen to teachings, read books and spend
extra time with God (on the beach if you like). Fill up your spirit and
soul!

And since we have summer church this coming month, with only one service at
5 pm, we have plenty of time to hang out with friends during the day, and
then bring them to the service.

Who knows if this is the summer your friend relaxes enough to have time to
open up his or her life for Christ! Don’t wanna miss out on that!!

So lovely friends… Don’t miss out on the summer feeling at church, which
doesn’t mean that we forget God and this wonderful life in Him, but that we
even more than before can enjoy and live life to the full, together with God
and friends!!

Let’s open up our life to others, so that we prompt people to open up to
God, this generous Father in heaven!!

Xoxo

Postponing things…

Do you have friends that are good friends but maybe because they don’t live
close to you or come to your church, you don’t talk very often? And you
think: I will call him or her LATER, when I have time to talk for more than
five minutes. And as the time goes, the more time you think you need to have
when you talk to them, because there is so much catching up to do!?

Well, maybe I am alone in this, but that is how I work sometimes. Well, I am
working on changing that. Better to call five-minutes-calls a little bit
more often than not call at all!

This blog has become like that too. The longer it takes between my
"blogings", the more pressured I feel to say something really significant:)!

But… I will work on writing more often (hope I will write SOMETHING
significant anyway:), calling friends, talking to neighbours, just keeping
it simple, more often.. And not postpone to tomorrow what I can do today.

Are you up for the challenge?

We don’t know it all.

I was talking to a pastor and his youth pastor today for a few hours. Such an honour and huge responsibility when people travel here to Stockholm to learn and develop, longing to grow their church. I really take that seriously. I have done that myself so many times and are still doing it. I travel a cross the globe several times a year to spend time with my pastor Brian Houston and in my home church Hillsong Sydney. And every time even though their lives are super busy, Brian always makes me feel valued and importeant, always saying how much he appreciate me coming, even though it’s sooo my privilege.

The pastor today asked me what is most important to me as a pastor leading and building teams, leaders and the church in general. Right away I could answer that question with something I learned from being around pastor Brian. 1: keep the soul of the church healthy. 2: there’s no small or unimportant people. Because church is all about God and people.

Now, just hearing that and learning to repeat that does not makes me grow as a leader or help me build the church with that focus. But Taking those truths and make them mine has made it a core thing in my approach to leadership and in the culture of our church.

So let’s not be full of ourselves thinking we know it all, that goes for us young leader more than ever. But let’s committ ourselves to pay the prize of putting ourselves in situations and around Godly men and women. There’s a heritage waiting to be passed on and to be picked up.

Tomorrow is another great Sunday, let’s make it all about God and His awesome people!

Colour Your World

After three TOTALY AMAZING days in London I am back at home in beautiful
Stockholm again.

I am so greatful for the men in our world who believes in us and want to
spend time, energy and money just to bless us and to make a conference for
us! And take care of the children while we are away..:)

We are all so excited to come back home and be the change in our own ‘back
yard’, in our city!

Marilynn Skinner said a great thing: Some of you think that you have nothing
in your hands, but it is wonderful what God can do with just hands!

So let’s start colouring the world around us! All we need is hands.
